Self-Contained Neighbourhoods

A home like no other.

In designing our facilities, we take time to truly contemplate the meaning of home. For us, it’s a place where we can relax and enjoy the day at our own pace, where we can be private and quiet when we need to, or social and active when we feel like it. In short, home is where we feel most comfortable, and where all of our needs are met.

In keeping with this, each of our facilities’ care units are designed to be their own miniature, self-contained neighbourhood. Residents have everything they need just down the hall, including a kitchen, dining room, common area, friends, and of course, our care staff. Living in these familiar surroundings day after day, residents feel comfortable, cared for and most importantly, at home.

Large Rooms

A place to belong.

When it comes to feeling good at home, privacy and comfort make all the difference. Our large rooms provide residents with plenty of space, making it easy for care staff to provide services right at the residents’ bedside. With many rooms boasting beautiful views of the Virginia River and East End St. John’s, you can be sure that your loved one will be quite comfortable with their own little home here at Chancellor Park.

Common Areas

A place to relax.

Any time of day, residents can find friends, staff and other familiar faces just down the hall in the common area. From live music and TV to games and spending time just chatting, there’s usually some kind of fun activity to take part in. Even when things are quiet, it’s still a great place to sit back, look out the window and take in the scenery, with the peace of mind and comfort of knowing you are not alone!

Chef-Prepared Meals

Something’s
always cooking!

Nothing says ‘home’ like a well-balanced, cooked meal. Quality cuisine is an important aspect of care at Chancellor Park. Residents enjoy on-unit nutrition services inclusive of local favourite offerings and in-season choices. Whether your loved one requires a special medical diet and food texture, our in-house Chef’s creations are sure to nourish and satisfy!

A registered dietitian is on staff and provides additional nutrition support to our residents. Our Dietitian works closely with each resident to ensure their daily diet requirement is achieved.

Our fully stocked unit kitchen allows residents to request lunches, ice cream and snacks outside of mealtimes, which can be enjoyed in the dining room or in the comfort of their room. Day or night, there’s nothing like a cup of tea and a cookie.

Pastoral Care / Spiritual Support

Chancellor Park’s holistic approach to care includes attending to the spiritual needs of residents and their families. This support is directed by an interdenominational Pastoral Care Committee. Church services are held by various denominations in our chapel and it remains open to residents, families and staff around the clock.

Intergenerational Program

A unique activity at Chancellor Park is the intergenerational Program. Chancellor Park has an onsite childcare centre, Oak Trees and Acorns Child Care Centre. As part of the Centre’s program, the children interact with residents of Chancellor Park regularly and in a variety of activities. By integrating the wisdom and insight of the older person with the energy and enthusiasm of a younger person, we can offer present and future generations hope and promise. We believe that intergenerational interaction strengthens the whole community, encourages the children’s self-worth through an extended family concept, and improves the quality of life for all.
